Hyde Place: Holy Communion 13th November at 10.00am in the day room.

Anyone may go along to these services especially if you feel that you are unable to access Holy Rood Church for the services there.

 

Prayer for the Parish: A informal time of prayer for the work and life of the parish takes place on 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th Thursdays at 7.00pm, lasting half an hour.

 

READINGS

2nd November: All Saints

1 John 3.1-3

Matthew 5.3-12

The saints are those whose lives let the light of God’s love shine through them  like light through a stained glass window.

 

9th November: 3rd before Advent/Remembrance Sunday

Amos 5.18-24

1 Thessalonians 4.13-18

Matthew 25.1-13

We need to keep ourselves awake and prepared so the Day of the Lord does not come to us as darkness rather than light.

 

16th November: 2nd before Advent

Zephaniah 1.7, 12-18

1 Thessalonians 5.1-11

Matthew 25.14-30

The Day of the Lord will hold terror for the wicked and unprepared but rejoicing for those living in God’s light.

 

23rd November: Christ the King

Ezekiel 34.11-16, 20-24

Ephesians 1.15-23

Matthew 25.31-46

In total humility, at one with the least of his people, Jesus, the Messiah or Christ,  reigns as King, with full authority and honour for eternity.

 

30th November:  Advent

Isaiah 64.1-9

1 Corinthians 1.3-9

Mark 13.24-37
