Tuesday Home Group* - July Update
(*Previously known as the Monday Home Group!)
Plan to restart in September 2022
We plan to meet approximately fortnightly from 2pm to 3.30pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, beginning on Tuesday 6th September.
We hope to start by doing a 4-session course written by Jeff Lucas and titled “Stop looking for the will of God”. (We have ordered books to give those involved one each (or one per couple) on a first come first served basis.) We have done a few of Jeff's studies previously and they have been popular.
In Stop Looking for the Will of God, Jeff encourages us not to get obsessed about finding God’s will for our lives, but to seek God Himself for His own sake. God has a plan for our lives, so we need to be ready and willing to respond to God’s calls to specific tasks, always aware of the guidance God has already given us through His Word, the Bible.
The four DVD sessions are entitled:
No prior knowledge is required or expected. A Bible is useful and will be provided if needed.
The format at each session is that we first discuss an icebreaker question, then watch a short video talk (about 12 minutes or so). This is followed by some questions to discuss together. We expect to finish between 60-90 minutes from the start.
We then go away with 5 short personal studies to do on our own, over the next fortnight, before the next meeting. Each study consists of one or more scripture readings, together with a short commentary by Jeff Lucas, written in his typically informal style. (They were designed as a daily bible reading programme with weekly meetings, but we’ll take longer.)
Jeff’s style is easy and informal and the studies are not hard. Nor are they followed by a test! (It definitely helps to do the home studies between meetings, even so, to get the most benefit.)
All are welcome, and it helps a lot if you could give Judy Hill (462888) or Chris and Gren Irwin (462742) a ring first so we can plan for the right numbers.
