MAKING A DIFFERENCE

It is all too easy for us as individuals to think that we cannot change anything.   We often ask “What can I do?”

If we look back in the past there have been many individuals who have made a difference.   People like Winston Churchill, John F. Kennedy, Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa - and of course, in the words of C S Lewis, the most important person who has ever lived, the Lord Jesus Christ.   His death on the Cross bearing our sin, and His resurrection changed the course of history and provided a way back to God for each one of us.   You may well argue that these are all famous people: which is true, but it wasn’t always that way; no one could have had a more humble birth than the Lord Jesus!   So what can we do?   Each of us has a sphere of influence no matter what our age or our circumstances.   Every day we meet people in the street, at the shops, in school or our neighbours.   How often do we stop and take time to talk to these people or are we always too busy?   A few words of encouragement can make a big difference.

Bishop Tim has been telling us that we should all use our vote and he is absolutely right.   Just think what a difference there would be if every person who is eligible to vote actually did so.     Those elected would  be the true representatives of the people.   So please do use your vote at the forthcoming general election and vote for the candidate who will do most to uphold Christian values and ethics.   So I would suggest that you can make a difference, by the way you live your everyday lives, by using your vote to elect the right people and if you confess the name of Jesus by sharing His love with others at every opportunity.
