Fete 2016

More beautiful weather on  for the 2016 Holy Rood Fete on 2nd July (despite a couple of convincingly threatening moments!), and lots of fun was had by all.

The stalls were creative and well patronised, the tea and cakes were delicious, and the teddies were their usual intrepid selves, fearlessly parachuting from the church tower.

Many thanks to all who helped out The sun shone, the wind blew, and there was a really happy relaxed atmosphere. All the hard work in running the stalls, providing produce to sell and games to play, really paid off.

Thank you also to all the loyal supporters who came and made it such a successful weekend.

The Flower Festival in the church on 2nd and 3rd July, held to coincide with the fete, was very beautiful - a quieter and reflective contrast to all the fun outside. See its own page via the link above. The effect was stunning. The villagers in the parish rose to the challenge and produced beautiful displays reflecting their own areas: sheep, castles and floods all featured along with the children’s own views of life in the parish. This was a true village flower festival, an exuberant display of flowers, and a triumph, especially from those who had little knowledge of flower arranging but were prepared to have a go.

The total of monies raised was a tremendous £1304.36 and this will go into the Building Fund for the Reordering of the back of the church, thank you everyone!

Admin note

I apologise the pictures have taken a long time to get here. Several other tasks had to take priority! The pictures are low quality for screen not prints but if anyone wants full resolution (as a .jpg file) let me know either at 462742 or the email address below and I'll happily supply you with one.

It was not practical to get formal consent for photos but if anyone wants theirs or their child's picture removed, please let me know and I'll be glad to do so.
